What the numbers mean
NYU's acceptance rate has held between 9.1% and 9.4% for three cycles on more than 110,000 first-year applications a year. NYU admits about 10,300 to 10,700 students and about 55% enroll. The Common Data Set reports applicants by gender, so the totals above are the sums of those lines (they match the residency-table totals in the 2025-26 and 2024-25 editions).
NYU's Common Data Set leaves the Early Decision and wait-list lines blank in all three editions we read, and its residency table has no in-state, out-of-state or international split (only totals, or nothing), so this page gives no Early Decision, wait-list or international acceptance rate. Any such figure elsewhere is not an NYU-published number.
Transfer admission is far less selective than first-year admission but swings widely: 37.2% for fall 2023 (3,930 of 10,573), 22.1% for fall 2024 (2,243 of 10,155) and 38.6% for fall 2025 (4,128 of 10,681), as published.
